Hello…

I am Catherine a Children's Picture Book Illustrator, Animator, Writer and Educator working and living in Devon, UKI divide my time between illustration practice, animation and facilitating creative workshops.

My practice is rooted in the impact of the human experience and conveyed through a variety of narrative-based approaches and in-person workshops.

I use my skills and experience in education by facilitating workshops with communities. I also create animated videos and children’s picture books. I care about people, inclusion and clear, honest, open communication. I am motivated to share and communicate to a wider audience about subjects they may be unaware of. I enjoy capturing moments and movement.

Clients include University Hospitals Plymouth NHS, Ocean Conservation Trust at the National Marine Aquarium, and National Saturday Club for Art and Design.

I am drawn to character-driven narratives which take you on a journey of discovery. I have always been a supporter of the underdog, being able to bring to light taboos and support for overlooked communities. As an illustrator, advocacy is a big part of my practice and I care about the world and the people in it. I believe I have a skill to educate and create conversation through my artwork in an ethically responsible way.

I enjoy working in traditional media and find a balance in using digital processes. I'm drawn to finding beauty in the imperfections, and the rich textures produced that are made when creating work on paper. I explore and experiment in different ways through my research practice and everyday life interactions. When I'm not making art, I love to go on adventures, for long walks, and enjoy finding new cafes too, which help inspire new stories!
